As you bask in the grandeur of Potala palace, you bond with Tibetan culture and history. You can stroll along Barkhor markets to observe colorful mosaic of Tibetan arts, culture, custom, tradition, lifestyle and cuisine. Visits to Jokhang temple and Drepung Monastery further heighten your excitement and zest. In the towns of Gyantse and Shigatse you have an exclusive opportunity to explore monasteries and fully immerse yourselves in the Buddhist culture. Day 01: Kathmandu (1300m). Overnight at Hotel.
Day 02: Kathamandu Sightseeing. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 03: Kathmandu (1300)-Kyirung Border (145km). Overnight at Guest House .
Day 04: Kyirong-Pekutso-Old Dingri (4300/230Km). Overnight at hotel.
Day 05: Old Dingri –Lhatse-Shigatse (3900m/300Km). Overnight at hotel.
Day 06: Shigatse-Gyangtse (3950Mts/90Km). Overnight at hotel.
Day 07: Gyangtse-Yamdrok lake-Lhasa (3650Mts/270Km). Overnight at hotel.
Day 08: Lhasa Full day Sightseeing. Overnight at hotel.
Day 09: Lhasa Full day Sightseeing. Overnight at hotel.

We will be staying at 2/3 star hotel in Kathmandu, and in tea-houses during the trek. All rooms are on twin-shared basis. Single bedroom will be arranged on request and will cost additional. Utmost Adventure will arrange rooms with attached washrooms in Tibet; however, guesthouse at some places only has shared washing and toilet facilities. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and in Tibet regions during the driving tour.


Breakfast will be provided during the tour (On demand, we can arrange lunch, dinner during the driving tour). There will also be welcome and farewell dinners taking place for guests. While on tour, we have breakfast and dinner in the guest house/hotel where we spend the night and lunch on our way to next destination. Authentic Tibetan, continental meals are common choices in the menu Tibet.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements

Tibet cultural tour is an easy tour. Travelers who can sit 5-6 hours a day on an uphill and downhill drive will consider this trip fulfilling and enjoyable. It is a good idea to prepare for the tour by jogging and exercising regularly at least for a month prior to the start. Touring in Tibet should be relatively easy for those who have experience in touring in high altitudes. Determination, good physical health, positive attitude and average physical fitness are good preconditions for a successful accomplishment of the tour. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Utmost Adventure Trekking before booking the trek.

Best Time to Travel

The best time for Tibet cultural tour is during Autumn, Spring, Summer (February to December) and The temperature is moderate and guarantees amazing views throughout the trip.

Day 01: Kathmandu (1300) – Kyirung Border (2800m):

Our staff will pick up from your hotel in Kathmandu in the morning and then we will drive along small mountain road to the border at Nepalese side; on the way you can enjoy the waterfall, river, gorges, and forest. Finally, we will arrive at the border (Nepal Side). Overnight at Guesthouse.

Day 02: Kyirong (2800m) – Pekutso-Old Dingri (4300m) – 230Km:

After the breakfast, completion of the border formalities in Nepal and Tibet side. We travel onward to the highest plateau of the world; it offers beautiful Tibetan landscape that you can feel of standing on the roof of the world. While driving we can see breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including Mt Xishapagma (8012M) and Mt Cho Oyu (820. From TINGRI, one can enjoy the magnificence of Mt. Everest (8,848 M). Overnight at Guest House.

Day 03: Old Dingri –Lhatse-Shigatse (3900m) – 300Km:

You will enjoy a great view of Mount Everest from Old Dingri and continue driving through friendship highway, passing the highest pass called Gyatso la at the elevation of 5248m, seeing beautiful prayer flags and continue driving towards Shigatse, pass by Lhatse county and then continue to Shigatse at the distance of 150Km. You will enjoy seeing beautiful Tibetan farmer villages with their beautiful Tibetan traditional houses with prayer flags on the roof top. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 04: Shigatse-Gyangtse (3950m) – 90km:

You will start your tour at around 9am from your hotel and visit Tashi Lhunpo monastery which is the seat of the Penchen Lama and it is the largest Gelukpamonatery in the western Tibet, known as Tsang region. After visiting Tashi Lhunpo, you will be driving to Gyangtse. Have lunch in Gyangtse and then Visit Palchoe monastery and Kubum Pagoda stupa. In the afternoon, explore the old town of Gyangtse. Overnight at Guest House.

Day 05: Gyangtse-Yamdrok lake-Lhasa (3650m) -270km:

You will start your tour at around 9Am from your hotel and then drive towards Lhasa via 3 big mountain passes, Simila, Karo La, Kampa La, respectively. Karola is the highest pass among them which is over 5000 Mts with it’s most beautiful glaciers, beautiful Yamdrok lake emerged as coral color from the top of Kampala pass. You will have your lunch at Nakartse country which is just between the Yamdrok lake and Karola glacier. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 06: Lhasa Full day Sightseeing:

After breakfast processed for full days Sightseeing of Potala Palace, it is one of the most beautiful monuments in Tibet with 1,000 room and 13 stores to explore this is probably the most popular tourist attraction in Tibet and Jokhang temple. Jokhang temple which was constructed back on 07th century attracts hundreds of tourists every years. This temple has a very huge Sakyanumi Buddha statue and is considered the holiest place in Tibet .Barkhor Market Palace, Barkhor Street is the centrifugal tide of pilgrim then you can see the several small, fascinating temples into the route. Overnight at hotel.

Day 07: Lhasa Full day Sightseeing:

After breakfast full day sightseeing of Sera Monastery Sera Monastery specialized in the fundamental precepts of Buddhism. Sera survived the ravage of the Cultural Revolution with the light damage although many of the lesser colleges were destroyed. Drepung Monastery – Drepung Monastery was one of the world’s largest monasteries it was founded in 1416. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 08: Lhasa to Airport:

After the breakfast fly bank to Kathmandu or to your onward destination. Flying back to Kathmandu offers beautiful an hour trans-Himalayan flight that takes us over Everest (8,848m), Kanchenjunga (8,536m) and other Himalayan peaks and glaciers.

Anti-diarrhea pills (Imodium) (one regular package)

One course antibiotics for chest infection, available locally at chemist shop or pharmacy with no doctor’s prescription.
